Feature and Follow Friday is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read
Question this week: What would your prefer, reading your favorite book over and over again until you got sick of it OR reading 100s of mediocre books? And why?
Answer: This is a hard one. I would probably rather read 100s of mediocre books. First, because I would hate to get sick of my favorite book, that would just make me sad. Second, I have to have new material to read or I would go crazy. Even if I didn't enjoy them as much as my fav books, I still rather read new stories with new characters.
TGIF at GReads is a Friday Feature hosted by Ginger at GReadsBooks.com! The point of TGIF is to re-cap on this week’s posts and answer the question of the week!

Question this week: Love Stories - What are some of your favorite fictional love stories?
Answer: This is pretty much the easiest question ever. Though I fear I will have to cut down my list because an essay length answer is probably too much. So here are a few that I think stand out the most. I listed them by couples because I mainly read series and these love stories are still going on.
Cat and Bones: I don't think anyone who's read the Night Huntress Series by Jeaniene Frost can deny that Cat and Bones are one of the most lovable characters in the urban fantasy genre. Though their relationship was a bit rough in the beginning--with Bones chaining Cat to a wall, half naked, and interrogating her--their love is so evident it sometimes hurts to read about them. I have never read so much love between two characters in my life.
Kate and Curran: My favorite urban fantasy series of all time, the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews, has my other favorite couple of all time. Their love story is very slow in that it takes them a lot of books into the series to finally get together. And with that lovely build up, their constant bickering, and their consuming love for one another, this is one of my favorite love stories of all time.
Joanne and David: These awesome characters are from the Weather Warden series (urban fantasy) by Rachel Caine. Though this series focuses on action most of the time, Caine also makes sure to add a good amount of romance. Joanne and David are a part of a love story (series) in which everything and their mother tries to tear them apart. But no matter the obstacles and the obvious reasons not to stay together, they hold on and tough it out. Thinking about them makes me want to cry with joy.
Phedre and Joscelin: Oh, God. Just thinking about the Kushiel's Legacy series by Jacqueline Carey exhausts me. These dark fantasy books are so rich in eloquent language and in depth plot that you will walk away in awe. And Phedre and Joscelin could not be more opposite. Their love grows despite heartache, loss, and horrors you can never imagine. Through it all, they had only each other. This built a bond like no other I have ever seen. Kushiel's Legacy series is the most breathtaking love story ever, though it is slow in coming. This is the first series in a long time that made me cry.
Claire and James: Outlander by Diana Gabaldon has another one of those love stories that will make you want to cry and whoop in joy at the same time. It is a historical romance that sucks you in and doesn't let go. Claire and James slowly get to know each other over time and what they go through together strengthens their bond that no one could ever sever. To me, this seems like the most realistic romance out of all of them.
Okay, maybe I ended up writing an essay for an answer. Sorry about that; love stories are my weak spot. I could talk about them for hours.
Follow me and/or leave a comment and link to your Follow Friday or TGIF post and I will return the favor.
Oh goodness, YES! Cat and Bones kill me. I ADORE THEM!
ReplyDeleteAnd I an't wait to see Kate and Curran's relationship blossom! I loved the teasing in MB! And I SERIOUSLY like that it's so slow-build--it makes it more believable :)
Cat and Bones are my favorite EVER lit couple :D
And if you want to talk about love stories for hours? *grabs doona* *settles in* go for it--I'll listen ;)
Hehe. I know you could listen to me talking about Bones and Cat all day long. That's why I like ya. ;)

Theoretically I'd just be too frustrated with so much mediocrity... LOL, but I suppose I could get somewhat tired of rereading my favorites... gah, the indecision!

I suppose I'd get sick of my favourite book as well, but I just can't bring myself to waste time with mediocre reads.
ReplyDeleteHere's my FF
I agree - I'd probably choose to read 100 mediocre books over just rereading my favorite book over and over. I never want to get sick of my favorite book!
ReplyDeleteGreat answer for a difficult FF question! Don't feel bad about your essay on love stories...mine is super long too! I love that you mentioned Claire/Jamie and Cat/Bones! I need to read the Kate Daniels series soon!
