I am very excited to introduce my guest for today. Britt Bury is the awesome writer of the paranormal romance The Darkest Day. You can find my review of her book by clicking here. The world Britt created in her novel blew me away from the get-go. If you are looking for a unique PNR with creepy new paranormal creatures, The Darkest Day is the book for you. Britt let me pick her brain a bit with some probing questions and you wont want to miss what she had to say.
Jennifer: Can you tell us a bit about The Darkest
Day for those who have yet to read it?
Britt: Sure! The Darkest Day is about the last human on Earth
full of immortals. She has a prophecy she's trying to outrun but her only
companion is her clan's greatest enemy. Doom-da-doom! (those were my
'ooh-so-scary' sounds effects) :) Oh yes, there is also a hunky Scottish
warrior and various breeds of immortals like Fionns and Pookahs all running
around Scotland.
Jennifer: How did you come up with the world in
The Darkest Day?
Britt: My grandfather actually use to tell me stories about our
Scottish heritage. We're from the Campbell Clan (this is the heroines same clan
in TDD). I researched into my ancestry and wove in some different breeds of
immortals like Fionns and Pookah and gave them their own traits and
instincts...and of course you've got to have a love story *winks*...but all of
it was inspired by my family tree.
Jennifer: Can you tell us three
surprising/interesting facts about yourself?
Britt: Oooh, um...surprising and interesting? Hmmm, I actually
suffer from really bad anxiety and have random panic attacks...in public. I
have seen the movie "A League of Their Own" over 400 times and cry my
eyes out every time. Ooh! I also LOVE to kareoke and play Texas Holdem...at the
same time.
Jennifer: If you could be any kind of
supernatural being, what would you like to be and why?
Britt: The invisible girl for sure! Anytime some conversation
gets awkward, you can just disappear or you could randomly show up at your
sister's house and scare the ba-jesus out of her.
Jennifer: If you were going to come up with a
theme song for your book, what song would it be?
Britt: Love this question! "Lost Without You" by Blink
182.
Jennifer: What were the best and most challenging
parts of writing your book?
Britt: Oh gosh...this book took me over three years to write.
There were times I wanted to throw my computer. But, even during the tough
parts, like trying to transition into a new scene, I loved the moments where
the characters came alive on the pages. It was all a terrible-wonderful process.
Jennifer: What kind of books do you like to read?
Have any favorites?
Britt: I actually like reading small town contemporary. Marina
Adair has some wonderful books!Britt: Stick with it. No matter how frustrating or how impossible it feels, always keep writing and just keep moving forward. Things can get rough and you have to believe in yourself even when you feel like you can't. And if after all that you're still struggling, call me and we'll cry together :)
Jennifer: What can we expect from the rest of the
series / next book?
Britt: The next book is about a Mystic Fionn and a Strigoi.
You'll get to see a different side of Ramsey and even take a trip to Hell...it
should be fun :)
Jennifer: I can't thank you enough for taking
time out to answer a few of my questions. I hope you had as much fun as I did.
Is there anything else you would like to mention to my readers before we part
ways?
Britt: Oh I had so much fun! Big thank you! But yes, I did want
to say thank you also to all those people out there who have been so supportive
and kind. I want you to know that the emails, comments, tweets...all of
it...all the nice wonderful words of encouragement you send me is what keeps me
going through the tough times. I appreciate you and I am your biggest fan.
Thank you.

Great interview. I haven't tried this book yet but it's definitely on my TBR pile.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Hope you enjoy it.
DeleteI think being invisible would be cool too. Just imagine the places you could sneak into!
ReplyDeleteFlying for me first, then invisibility second.
DeleteGreat interview! This series sounds like fun, I am going to have to work my way over to picking it up.
ReplyDeleteHope you like it.
DeleteFun interview- isn't Harvey the invisible 6-foot tall rabbit (from the movie of the same name) supposed to be a Pookah? Or did I just make that up.
ReplyDeleteAnd what is it about Scotland that everyone loves it so much? I wish people loved Armenia as much. Nobody knows anything about Armenia... oh well...
