Summary
There's only one person I want to see when I return home. But I know he won't be waiting. It's the reason I feel safe enough to come back.

I’m so wrong.

Ash Townsend isn't the same quiet boy from next door. He's tall, dark, and demanding answers. He wants me, but he doesn't trust me. Who can blame him? When his own family tried to break him down, he still sheltered me in this town full of liars. And I repaid it by leaving him without a word.

Because I'll do anything to protect Ash. I have the scars on my wrist to prove it.

I buried my face in his shoulder and took in a breath. When I had been kissed before, no one had made me feel anything like that, or anything at all, really. Most likely because I wished all the other guys were someone else.

“Is this going to change things between us?” I murmured into his neck, where his pulse throbbed to a rapid beat. I don’t know why I asked. I already knew the answer. There was no way it wouldn’t.

His fingers slid up the hem of my damp shirt, causing me to shiver. “Yes, but it will make everything easier, too.”

“What does that mean?” We were going to say goodbye soon. My heart wrenched. If anything, everything was going to be so much harder. I hadn’t wanted to think about that part.

He gazed down at me, his eyes shining and intense. “I’ve waited years for this, do you know that?”

“Then why didn’t you do anything sooner?” I was well aware of my own reasons.

“It doesn’t matter anymore. We’re both getting out of here.” He released a slow breath. “But we probably shouldn’t tell anyone.”

A chill came over my damp skin. I’d so easily forgotten. He wasn’t clear of his family. But the fact remained, at the end of the summer, we weren’t just going to be farther apart because of geography, but because of the start of our own separate lives. I drew a light finger over one of the scars on his shoulder. He’d be free from them—and me. I resolved what little time we had left wasn’t going to be wasted. Nothing bad should happen if we kept it a secret like he suggested.

“No, I guess it doesn’t matter now.” I kissed that fluttering pulse at the side of his neck.

Author Bio
When I’m not plotting elaborate schemes in my head, I’m having a fabulous time with my own real life story. That’s what happens when you have three awesome kids, two fluffy (useless) cats, and one very patient husband.

I can cook like a fiend but prefer to eat doughnuts with sprinkles for breakfast. Sprinkles make everything taste better. An avid reader of all genres, I shamelessly admit romance will always be my favorite. And while I enjoy the safe and familiar, I’m always up for an adventure.

My debut New Adult Contemporary Romance novel SEE THROUGH ME will be released in May. You can contact me at Facebook

  3. I'm curious about why they have to keep it a secret. Sounds good and drama filled. I'm enjoying that cover as well. Red has always been a favorite hair color. Thanks so much for sharing! Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven.

  6. Wow, awesome cover, interesting blurb, and the little excerpt sold me. Thanks for hosting this one!

P.S. I know you like urban fantasy/paranormal stuff. I just did a cover reveal over on my blog this past week for a book called The Fox's Mate by Elaina M. Roberts. I've read one of her books before, she is pretty good. I just got the ARC, I'll let you know how it is. Fox alpha shifter named Draike...rat shifters. Yeah, definitely piqued my interest!

  7. That sounds like a very mysterious and dark blurb. It doesn't really tell us much about what to expect. It was a bit too brief for me though, with the expert as well I haven't been too convince to read it. I wonder, if you'll review this one too?
