Summary
Being the daughter of a big-city mayor, twenty-one year old Skye Summers has giant shoes to fill in her first real job out of college. With the public spotlight on her family, and her dad’s expectations running high, she jumps at the chance to work side-by-side on an important project with her sexy new boss.
Playboy entrepreneur Landon Steele has built a successful entertainment PR firm and broken more than a few hearts along the way. He’s counting on his enthusiastic new assistant to help him expand his business into LA… until he discovers she’s a pampered rich girl who’s in the public spotlight as much as his famous clients. Still, he agrees to give her a chance, and soon the two are heating up the bedroom as well as the boardroom.
But when Skye’s ex-boyfriend threatens to reveal a dangerous secret from her past, her job, relationship with Landon, and her father’s career are suddenly all on the line. Will she be forced to leave Landon? Or will she pursue her heart, regardless of the cost?

A good romance but nothing spectacular.
The Good
Picture Perfect is a fun, easy read. It had a good amount of romance, sex, and drama. Both characters had interesting backgrounds/stories. Skye and her political family who are loving but not perfect. Landon and his determination and tenacity in his career. I respect someone who knows how to run an efficient and professional company. They worked well together both in the work environment and privately.
These two give off a lot of emotions, especially Skye, but the book didn't feel overly heavy. I was sad when they had a falling out, but I understood both of their positions. Skye handled the scandal with dignity. I don't know if I would have been as brave as her.
The couple kept me reading. Their office romance really drew me in. They deny each other for so long that when they finally cave, FIREWORKS! The writing flowed well, as did the dialogue. I felt connected with every character. The plot was simple but interesting. I liked how it ended, so sad at first then super cute. I will continue this series.
The Bad
There is nothing specific I can pinpoint that I didn't like. I just didn't find any part of this book amazing. It was all good, but that's it. Plus, I got bored in some areas.
The Snuggly
The slow romance between Skye and Landon was good but it was the sex that made me tingle all over. The sexual chemistry was off the charts. And liked how that attraction slowly turned into true feelings by the end.
There is sex, so for a new adult audience and up.
Final Thoughts
The series as a whole has an interesting theme of public scandal. It's hard to read sometimes because I put myself in the characters' positions and I think I would just break down. But these characters show us how to overcome the negative and focus on the positive. A great message. Recommended.
Quotes
“'I can’t make any promises. I have no idea what the future holds and I’ve never been in a monogamous relationship before. And to be clear, that’s what this would be. But I’m not going to tell you that everything will work out all right, because I don’t know that. Unlike my father, I’m not going to make promises I can’t keep. What I can tell you is that I want to spend time with you. I want to find out what side of the bed you like to sleep on. I want to know where that little scar on your inner thigh came from. I want to figure out whether you’re a morning person or a night owl. I want it to be me you ask what dress you should wear on a night out. I want to know how you take your coffee in the morning and what kind of movies make you cry. I want to know everything there is to know about you…and I want you to want all those things, too.'
That was the single most romantic thing anyone had ever said to me.”
“Yep, I must have done something wrong in a past life because I was definitely being tested. He wore an aged pair of jeans, faded in all the right spots and hanging low on his hips. The lean muscles of his upper body were on full display in a charcoal long-sleeved shirt. Basically, he looked mouth-watering, panty-drenching good. Crap.”

Sounds pretty good. =) I always love a good romance! Great review!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI'm glad that you enjoyed this one. I definitely agree that the chemistry between Skye and Landon was pretty amazing. :)
ReplyDeleteIt make the whole book.
DeleteThe balance sounds good with the romance and even though it wasn't spectacular, it does sound like a good read
ReplyDeleteI definitely enjoyed myself.
DeleteThanks for participating in the tour! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance to read your book.
DeleteGreat review! I like the sounds of this series it sounds like it has good emotional content but nothing too overbearing so it stays a lighter read. :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's nice to read a light romance book from time to time.
DeleteI think we could all use some positive messages in our lives. Now I know where to find one. :-)
ReplyDeleteAnna from Shout with Emaginette
I agree, it's nice to get positive reinforcement.
DeleteNo bad points?! This is a winner!!!!
ReplyDeleteYeah, nothing finite. But an overall feel that it could be better.
DeleteWell then, I'm officially intrigued. I love those romances that start off like that.
ReplyDeleteAwesome hope you read it.
DeleteExactly what I thought! Nothing bad about it, a good read, interesting story, interesting characters (though no crush material on either side, sadly), and despite the awesome chemistry between them my heart didn't go all nutty for some reason.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's the writing, not over-dramatizing the drama-licious parts, the characters don't do angsty, so maybe that's why the end result is a good, balanced, without super highs or super lows kind of reading experience. It's a rare talent, in my opinion, to give readers a well balanced, not emotionally exhausting, good read, right?
Very good observation. That balance is so hard to achieve but Grace did it.
DeleteThe characters sound very well developed, and realistic. Sorry the story wasn't amazing though, but that you enjoyed it overall :)
ReplyDeleteAs long as I enjoy it I am all good
DeleteEven if the ook isn't awesome, it's already perfect if it's good. It looks like there are a lot of different things there and I love when it's well mixed together. Thanks for the review.
ReplyDeleteEverything mixed together very well.
DeleteInteresting review, I like how you made an okay read sound so positive. Sorry it was just eh, at least you walked away with somethings from it.
ReplyDeleteWell, I am just honest about the parts I liked and the parts didn't.
DeleteIt sounds like what you put in the at a glance: nice but nothing new or amazing. I think this might be a bit too clichéd for me to read myself... hm >.>
ReplyDeleteYeah, this was a hard one. Good but meh at the same time.
