~Short Review~

At A Glance
Um, wow. I want to read it again, it was that good.

The Good
All Malcolm wanted to do was find his own kind. Running away from home after finding out he is fey, he sets out to find others like him. He wants to know more about his race. But all he finds is betrayal, imprisonment, and torture.

OMG! I am still reeling from this one. I was taken on a freakin' emotional rollercoaster. We meet Malcolm covered in dirt and living on the streets. He has just found out he is fey and now he wants to know what that means. Drawn to a strange shop with books about the fey, the seemingly nice shop owner directs him to another fey. But this fey, Rand, is not so good. He has plans for Malcolm, ones that mean hours of pain and degradation.

You could not help but feel horrible for Malcolm. He is an innocent 17 year old kid who just doesn't know any better. Gullible and hopeful. What he goes through is unspeakable. It feels like he will never get away from his captures. The goblins who guard him are almost the worst part. They find his screams amusing and taunt him mercilessly.

While all this is going on, Donovan, who we met in Aftershock, is still building his army of fey while also trying to save the few he can. He looks for Malcolm but all hope seems lost. It really feels like he is never going to find him. But I had faith in my ol' pal Donovan.

The writing, as always, was beautiful and descriptive. Archer and Ravynheart know how to draw a reader in and take them on a scary but thrilling ride. I cannot recommend this series enough.

The Bad
NOTHING! It was just awesomeness all around.

The Snuggly
No romance in this one. There is a vague idea of sexual assault going on in one scene.

Overall
This was a great addition to the series. It opened our eyes to the horrible and beautiful world of the Sidhe. I can't wait to see what is going to happen next. Highly Recommended.
